In 2011, Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don created ClassDojo. It is a communication platform for parents, teachers and students being used in ninety perfect of America’s school districts. This tool is very popular in usage due to how it allows non-English speaking parents to communicate with their children’s schoolteachers. The application is leading in its category of connecting parents and teachers who speak different languages. The tool helps to support and develop skills between everyone involved in the education of a child. ClassDojo is also a platform that allows for parents and teachers to share with each other on things like class reports. Teachers also can add images and videos to the platform so parents can get a glimpse of what their child is doing. ClassDojo’s mission is to create a sense of community for those of different languages and for parents wanting to be actively involved in their children’s education.
What the creators had in mind for ClassDojo was to have an application that established trust between those who spoke different languages. Privacy protection was seriously thought through during the development and design of the platform. The app has a privacy center to protect the users privacy that also allows users to have control over their information they provide to the app. The creators have committed to never selling their information for profit. The app also makes sure to never sell or rent out information on students. Student feedback points are deleted on a yearly basis. The technology company is compliant with the Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Additionally, ClassDojo is complaint with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and is TRUSTe certified.
ClassDojo has created a communication platform that is all about creating community. Two in three schools are benefiting from the features and ground-up change the app offers. The application welcomes those that speak different languages by creating a positive culture with classrooms and schools that include around thirty five different languages. This application will surely continue to transform interactions between the schools and households of children where there are multiple languages being spoken.
